You did the exact same thing that I did over the weekend and that was look at some UA-cam videos and compare their complexion to my complexion which I'm a pecan Brown and I also sent them a picture of myself outside so they had some true color into my skin tone and the first one I received prior to that was too yellowish. So I'm waiting on the second one to arrive and it's number 165. I sent them an email today and told them based on my UA-cam findings look like I need to be in the numbers #200. I'm going to patiently wait and see what what the number 165 looks like when I receive it. I may be surprised. Hopefully I will be. I understand completely where you are coming from sis! ❤ Rihanna would have really made an impact with Fenty Hair if she focused only on ethnic hair types aka 3B/C 4A/B/C rather than ethnic hair types AND everyone under the sun. That is not to say that we don’t want to promote inclusivity to all hair types but why include hair types that were already included to begin with in other brands like Pantene, Tresemme, Herbal Essences etc. I’m proud of you for stating your opinion on the matter! ❤ And For the record I LOVE Rihanna and her brand still be trying out the edge control 😂

In my experience (in South Africa), it took me a lot of trial and error to find products that are right for me. For example, the conditioner I swear by belongs on the white people hair shelf not even sure why because it works incredibly well on my 100% African hair. Most people don’t even know it exists but it sits in South Africa’s most frequented beauty supply store. I used to try products that directly market to our texture but a lot of them were underwhelming. So I would use US products I was familiar with online. But I kept trying different brands until I found good local ones that keep hair fabulous and my haircare budget low. Final word, celebrity hair line or not, find what your hair needs and pocket can sustain whether they advertise directly to you or not.

Ma'am. The mistake that you're making is that you're focusing on "4C" hair , when there's no such thing that exists. There are only two types of hair straight or kinky that's it. When companies say for all hair types they mean straight or kinky. Depending on your Texture(fine, medium, or coarse), Scalp, or porosity , these companies will provide suitable products. Believe or not black people aren't the only people who have "4C" hair. If these products didn't work for YOUR hair in particularly, then don't assume that theses products won't work for some one else with a similar kinkier hair.

One product can perform well on all types of hair if it's formulated correctly.

Honestly though, high end products like K18 or Olaplex are definitely for all hair types. I think the technology for hair products and our u estranging I 4c hair in particular is changing. And outside of styling products specifically, in general, yes, certain high end products can tout to be for all hairstyles

Typically when a new product launches they start with the standard products. As time goes on they will release more specific products most likely for specific hair types, so I think we're going to have to wait for that.

1000% agree. None of these celebrity brands are going to be exclusive to US ✋🏾✊🏾 because they're all hyper capitalists that worship the dollar lol. So like just buy the product if you want to but if you want to stick to the 4c specific stuff, nothing is stopping that. I agree with you that people need to adjust their expectations 😂

To be fair, Rih is not saying that her products are for everyone or every hair type, but that there's at least one thing that you can find in the line that will work for you and your routine. I like how on the website, for the curl cream, it says "if you have fine hair this is not for you, but there might be something else in the Fenty Hair line that might work better for you" which I think is really smart and not something I've seen a hair care line do before in its promoting. The marketing is very honest about what product will work for a certain hair type and what won't, and there's none of that bs "you have to use the whole line to see results." I like how there are instructions for fine hair and instructions for curly/coilies. The whole Fenty Hair line is not supposed to be entirely for everyone but at least ONE or two things might work for 4C hair, fine hair, etc. I'm not even a Rihanna fan like that but I really am impressed at this level of honesty in the marketing, it's commendable.

Besides styling products we can honestly use any shampoo & conditioner & treatment . Matrix, redken, head&shoulders, olaplex etc. are effective on 4c hair. I’ll say there needs to be more Afro texture representation in the marketing.
